Bernard DARNEL

DARNEL, Bernard
May 31, 1961 – October 9, 2013
Our dear Bernard passed away on October 9 after a brave battle with cancer. He was predeceased by brother Sigurdt, and his in-laws Francesca and Salvatore Montalbano. He leaves behind his high school sweetheart and wife of 29 years Susanna, cherished children Alannah and Michael, mother Judy, father Lance, brother Gerard (Jan, son Dustin), sister Helga (Wes), like a brother- brother-in-law John (Dana). He was Uncle 'Nard to adored nephews Luke and Marco. He will be missed by his loyal buddy Skitz. Bernard was a devoted family man, loved his home, community and his work-just completing 25 years of service at Costco. Susanna wishes to thank so many for their support and prayers, allowing the time to care for dear Bernard at home for as long as possible. His beautiful smile and sense of humour will be missed by many, especially by Susanna. Please consider donating in Bernard's name to one of the following charities that he volunteered for: The United Way; Children's Miracle Network; Heart and Stroke Foundation; or the BC Cancer Society. A Funeral Mass will be held on Friday October 18, 2013 at 2:00 pm at St. Joseph the Worker Parish, 4451 Williams Road, Richmond, BC..

OMG- This is so sad and tragic. Bernard and I were in the same social circle at Jayo, so I'm sure this loss has an impact on many of our classmates, who had kept in touch over the years. My thoughts and condolences go out to Bernard's family and friends. Gone too soon; he'll be missed.

May I suggest that any updates to this 'In Memory' section include an alert message indicating an edit or update to this section, so if there is the capacity and the desire to offer sympathy/condolences to survivors that this may be done in a timely manner rather than a year after-the-fact as I have just done, unfortunately (ie: better late than never). In this case Bernard married his high school sweetheart, who we have the capacity to contact within this website. Many of us (myself and Amar Phagura above as it seems, too) do not necessarily read into this 'In Memory' section often out of reasonable expectation, thankfully, as to date, entries are not made often here. Thanks.

Wow,

Dont know what to say. I was in grade one to grade seven with Bernard at Van Horne Elementary. Then 4 years at J.O. I have lost touch over the years, but I am a sad over this.
